House building: a key indicator of economic health
Jack Ricketts, Senior Product Manager, MadeTech
Tracking individual home developments and integrating building control information to provide accurate and reliable real-time data on house building is challenging, especially when it comes to the private sector and RBCAs. But by integrating directly with the Planning Portal and providing a simple interface for developers and RBCAs, it is possible to enable real time, automated reporting, without disrupting a council’s existing IT systems. This project, in association with Barnet, Camden, Reading and the Planning Portal, showcases how an API integration between a planning authority and the Planning Portal can bring together planning and building control data to seamlessly monitor housing delivery information.

Building safety into tall buildings; keeping our communities safe from fire
Steve Taylor, Strategic Data Lead, National Fire Chiefs Council
Explaining the value of accurate addressing data for UK Fire & Rescue Services (FRSs) in keeping communities safe, both from response and risk mitigation points of view. FRSs work hard to ensure existing buildings are safe but also get involved in the planning stage for new buildings so getting a UPRN as early as possible is very important. Accurate data, as early as possible, with parent UPRNs and accurate classifications underpins all thework going on out there to ensure everyone is safe when going about their daily lives.
