Land Data CIC was set up in 2001 by a cross-Government initiative to regulate and run (under licence) the National Land Information Service (NLIS), a hub providing a single point of access to Official sources of land and property information from every local authority in England and Wales, HM Land Registry and the Mining Remediation Authority.
25 years later and Land Data is building the Next Gen NLIS to replace the hub, with funding from the Government's Regulators' Pioneer Fund. The new, independent platform will launch in March 2027 and continue Land Data's mission to make the Official Search market work better, by increasing market efficiency, supporting local authorities to sustainably manage their vital data and ensuring home movers can continue to access high quality information from source.
