Driving geospatial transformation in local government
Chair: Simon Barlow, Executive Director of Consultancy, GeoPlace
Local authorities hold some of the most valuable location data in the country, yet its strategic potential can be under-realised. This session explores how the GeoPlace, Local Government Association and Ordnance Survey partners are bringing their unique combination of remits and capabilities to drive a new collaborative strategic vision to unlock measurable value across local government, the wider public sector and beyond.
Focusing on the role of Custodians and local authority geospatial expertise, the integration of UPRN and USRN based datasets, and Ordnance Survey’s National Geographic Database (NGD), the partners will demonstrate how geospatial data maintained by local authorities is has value at all levels from local communities to regions and the nation as a whole. From improved service delivery and smarter decision-making to reduced duplication and stronger cross-departmental collaboration, the return on investment, underpinned by the PSGA and NGD has the potential to be very significant.
This session will highlight the value of geospatial transformation, raise the profile of Custodians and SNN Officers work, and provide a clear narrative for how the GeoPlace partnership will demonstrate value to senior leadership. It will give you the insight needed to articulate how your authoritative location data underpins more efficient services and stronger outcomes for communities.
