Intelligent Addressing announces Aligned Assets as first NLPG reseller

Posted: 13 January 2010

Intelligent Addressing has signed up Aligned Assets as its first independent reseller of the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), the national address database for England and Wales.

The NLPG is created by local government and provides a unique property reference number (UPRN) or a precise geographic location, for each and every property including multi-occupancy buildings such as flats in England and Wales. It also includes records for the many properties which do not have a postal address such as churches and rail stations. The NLPG also offers historical records of the property and legacy information. It is the detail provided by NLPG that makes it the ultimate reference for asset management and services delivered by both the public and commercial sectors.
Aligned Assets is a supplier of Address and Property Management Systems to Local Authorities, the Emergency Services and National Parks, and is already focussing on NLPG solutions for Housing Associations and the wider commercial sector. The company provides spatially enabled, enterprise-wide addressing solutions that allow users to easily manage, search, exchange and share both property and geospatial information with other systems. Aligned Assets will provide NLPG data ranging from small subsets covering local authority areas, up to regional subsets, right through to data for the whole of England and Wales.
Aligned Assets will be holding a series of events throughout 2010 to introduce prospective users of the NLPG to its benefits and potential applications. The first of these events will be their Gazetteer Best Practice Day, which will be held at the London Borough of Southwark on 24th February.
Nick Turner, Business Development Manager at Intelligent Addressing said "Aligned Assets have been at the forefront of gazetteer development for local authorities for many years and we are delighted that they have become the first reseller for the NLPG"

The NLPG is a joint venture between all local authorities in England and Wales, the Local Government Information House part of IDeA and Intelligent Addressing Limited.
Intelligent Addressing is contracted under the terms of the Mapping Services Agreement for Local Government to manage the NLPG hub. IA is required to receive, validate and integrate LLPG data from Local Authorities into the national hub and then distribute the data as part of the NLPG. Under a separate public private partnership agreement, IA has been contracted to act as the sole agent for the commercialisation of the NLPG, and promote its use in market sectors beyond the scope of the MSA
