Royal Borough of Greenwich wins Data Quality & Improvement Award

Posted: 10 May 2017

The Royal Borough of Greenwich has been presented with the Award for âData Quality & Improvement' in recognition of the management of its street information database.

The award was presented at the GeoPlace annual conference and presentation of the Exemplar Awards 2017. The Awards celebrate excellence in service delivery that have been enabled through local government address and street information.

Street data is not only used within councils it is also incorporated into a national Highways dataset â Ordnance Survey's Highways Network. The resulting data is a combination of data from local highway authorities via the National Street Gazetteer, Highways England data from the Trunk Road Street Gazetteer and accurate detailed geometry and additional road content from OS. This is why the âData Quality & Improvement Award is important. It is a testament to the hard work and skill that goes into maintaining a constantly changing dataset.

The Award is given to the authority which has shown the most improvement over the last year in England and Wales.

In presenting the award to the council, Richard Groombridge, National Street Data Manager said "The Royal Borough of Greenwich has achieved the greatest improvement in data quality which demonstrates excellence and commitment to a process that brings local and national benefits.
