Intelligent Addressing announces two latest NLPG Resellers

Posted: 21 January 2010

Intelligent Addressing has signed up two additional companies; Bartec Systems and Postcode Anywhere, to act as resellers of the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG), the national address database for England and Wales.

By widening the reseller community more organisations, such as housing associations, utilities and retail companies will benefit from access to and use of this valuable national asset.

The NLPG is created by local government and provides a unique property reference number (UPRN) or a precise geographic location, for each and every property including multi-occupancy buildings, such as flats in England and Wales. It also includes records for the many properties which do not have a postal address, such as churches and rail stations. The NLPG also offers historical records of the property and legacy information. It is the detail provided by the NLPG that makes it the ultimate reference for asset management and services delivered by both the public and commercial sectors.

These resellers are already familiar with the NLPG due to their long-standing relationships within the local government sector. They are all ideally suited to take it to a wider market.

Bartec Systems is a provider of integrated waste collection systems to both Local Authorities and private refuse contractors. Bartec's Waste Collector software uses the NLPG as its central address database which ensures the seamless transmission of accurate and timely two-way property linked information, from call centre right the way through to street crews equipped with mobile devices.

  • Postcode Anywhere supplies software and services which improve the day-to-day operation of over 7,000 organisations worldwide. A value-added data reseller, it is best known as a provider of address auto-fill and verification software. Postcode Anywhere's NLPG Anywhere application allows Local Government Authorities and other bodies to maximise the use of their address data. As a centrally managed web service, NLPG Anywhere integrates quickly and easily with any application, combining the gazetteer data with an intuitive interface and mapping visualisations for efficient, joined-up service delivery.

"The NLPG is a mature and valuable data asset that can be exploited by a wide variety of organisations. It has particular resonance for those serving domestic customers in their homes but will also be of interest to utilities that have to service many buildings and locations without a postal address," said Nick Turner, Business Development Manager at Intelligent Addressing. "The first NLPG resellers have the expertise, software and confidence in working with the NLPG to enable them to leverage new licensing and partnership opportunities in the wider commercial market.

The NLPG is a joint venture between all local authorities in England and Wales, the Local Government Information House part of IDeA and Intelligent Addressing Limited.

Intelligent Addressing is contracted under the terms of the Mapping Services Agreement for Local Government to manage the NLPG hub. IA is required to receive, validate and integrate LLPG data from Local Authorities into the national hub and then distribute the data as part of the NLPG. Under a separate public-private partnership agreement, IA has been contracted to act as the sole agent for the commercialisation of the NLPG, and promote its use in market sectors beyond the scope of the MSA.

The Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA) works in partnership with all councils, to enhance the performance of the best, accelerate the speed of improvement of the rest, and develop the sector as a whole.

Working in partnership with the local government community developing national infrastructure projects that enable councils to deliver local services more effectively, LGIH acts as an intermediary between the public and the private sector enabling it to negotiate with private companies on behalf of local authorities in order to provide key parts of a technical infrastructure for improved service delivery.

Bartec Systems is a division of Bartec Auto ID Limited. The Company is based in South Yorkshire. In 2005 Bartec was awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise for International Trade.

Bartec Systems is at the forefront of technology for waste collection management systems and is working with a number of Councils to improve operational efficiencies. Bartec's "Waste Collector" system communicates in near real-time with a Council's own CRM system, aggregating all service information into one single, easy-to-use, enquiry screen. Collection schedules, bin numbers and full histories of customer contact are readily accessible "on demand" at individual postcode level and can be viewed by collection crews, management and customer contact teams alike. This 'joined up' approach allows call centre staff to access information within moments of it being recorded, resulting in more householder calls being dealt with at first point of contact and enabling crews to positively contribute to their own service management.

Postcode Anywhere was established in 2000 and is now one of the UK's most recognised address auto-fill brands. Its postcode look-up is installed in over 7,000 e-commerce websites and desktop applications worldwide.

Postcode Anywhere has a wide variety of customers, including the Learning and Skills Council, The Identity and Passport Service, HMRC, and many councils and LGAs.

Their award-winning platform now works across a range of difficult-to-access datasets. By building extra functionality around them and making access intuitive rather than time-consuming and costly, they've created a suite of software to help organisations become more efficient.

Postcode Anywhere has now built a powerful desktop application around the National Land and Property Gazetteer (NLPG) data. The software provides rapid and smart access to the NLPG data and mapping tools for efficient, joined-up LGA service delivery.

Installation is simple and there are no consultancy or development costs. To find out more, or to take a free trial of the service call 0800 047 0493.
