Street Naming and Numbering focus
Over the past few years, the Street Naming and Numbering sessions have proved to be very popular with SNN Officers as the SNN Practice Working Group report progress on the development of Codes of Practice for the community.
This year will be no different.
The first morning session will focus on areas of collaboration between local government and Royal Mail. Ian Evans, Head of AMU Products & Licensing at Royal Mail Address Management Unit will join the SNN Practice Working Group for a session which offers the opportunity for SNN Officers to discuss areas for improvement to achieve consistent working practices and shared standards.
The discussion will also inform the SNN Code of Practice being drawn up by the SNN Practice Working Group, which is made up of SNN Officers from across England and Wales.
For more information about the SNN Practice Working Group, see https://khub.net/group/geoplace/group-forum/-/message_boards/message/28195990.
The afternoon session will feature a facilitated discussion giving you the answers to everything street naming and numbering related. Intended as a real-life companion to the regular discussions on the Khub, this session gives you the chance to ask your burning questions such as:
Which numbering layout to use?
What information to send out with SNN notification letters?
Addressing new roads with existing properties
Numbering for infill developments
Panel members will include the DCA Street Naming and Numbering Practice Working Group:
Dave Heyes - Wigan Council,
Jules Kavanagh - Birmingham City Council,
Shirley Brewer – Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council
Emma Jones – Denbighshire County Council.
Alex Lawrence - Solicitor, Specialist in local government law from Anthony Collins Solicitors.
We will use the 'Slido tool' to crowdsource questions, before and during the event, allowing youy to vote on the ones that you would like discussed.
The final session will be an informal ‘meet and chat' with fellow SNN Officers before rejoining the main conference room to hear about ‘Streets in the dock!' from Martin Laker of Bath and North East Somerset who will discuss his experiences from a 2 day trial, 3 hours in the witness box and 19 pages of written judgement on a long, complicated and landmark court case on Street Naming and Numbering.
Throughout the day, there will be bookable one-to-one slots with members of the SNN Practice Working Group to discuss any issues you have related to street naming and numbering.
This is a must attend event for SNN Officers!
