Revolutionising housing, planning and property

This session focuses on Housing, planning and property will reveal the ways in which changes to datasets such as adding in UPRNs and USRNs. can deliver huge benefits and enable data linking for greater insights and partnership working.

Delegates will discover how these changes can deliver everything from greater transparency in the private rented sector to reduced fraud across the board in terms of benefit claims and taxation, identify cascading risks, protect against rogue landlords, cross-reference social services’ needs with known rental properties and better integration with third parties offering tenant services. The session will also examine the role of location in planning.

Housing officers, licensing and enforcement officers in particular will benefit from dropping in to this free, online event.

Conference

11.15 - 12.00

Local to national; collaborating to deliver national infrastructure projects

This session examines Infrastructure – revealing how the drive for greater national efficiency will impact local authorities, and how they can benefit from being ahead of the game.

How will you use national transport data to improve traffic and communication networks, locally for example? What are other authorities doing to deliver mobility at scale, and are you ready to weather the perfect storm? What is government doing to drive collaboration to support digital infrastructure and reduce congestion, pollution and improve efficiency. With new infrastructure, fibre and 5G, climate change, active travel … enabling efficient infrastructure is a complex challenge. How is geographic data being used in the journey to a Smart City?

Planners, colleagues interested in economic growth and broadband/5G roll-out, climate change and transport will be interested in this session.

Using data better in health and social care to support the response to COVID-19

This session looks at Health and Social Care–and how location information can enable segmentation and targeting of support to those that need it most

Delegates will discover the future benefits being gained by authorities that have responded to COVID-19 with exemplar health and social care programmes. Would your team benefit from exchanging ideas with authorities that have integrated cross-department insights and deliver exemplar health and social care programmes? Would you like to see how this has been done? Would you like to find out more about how the UPRN has underpinned shielding measure for vulnerable people?

This session will be of particular interest to public health, healthcare trusts and local resilience teams.

Identifying and supporting vulnerable people

This session focusses on Helping vulnerable people, revealing the ways in which simple changes to datasets can deliver huge benefits.

Delegates will discover how different departments have used simple tools to identify the most vulnerable people in their areas – vastly improving care delivered. Would your team benefit from seeing examples of best practice in vulnerable support programmes? Are you missing opportunities to identify those who need help most? Would you like to find out how emergency services work with partners to identify vulnerable households at risk from fire? And hear about a national project where information about individuals’ vulnerability on an address-by-address basis can be securely shared in order to respond to a major incident?

This session will be of particular interest to safeguarding teams, adult and child social care, healthcare trusts and the emergency services.

Your data, supporting public services

This session will give a strategic view on the use of data in local authorities as we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, providing thought leadership on the data landscape. Speakers will also acknowledge the ways in which local authorities are working hard to deliver high-quality services, focussing on the need for greater inter-department liaison, and in-depth analytics that will make every part of the authority’s work even more effective. Attendees will be given the tools to make the case for better data linking, resulting in quicker, easier wins.

Looking forward, working with partners

This session will focus on lifecycle content and processes to improve the timeliness of our data. Street naming and numbering, Improvement Schedules, PSGA data asks, stakeholder engagement and third-party data are all vital inputs. Speakers will outline the address management relationships with organisations such as the Department for Transport, the VOA, HM Land Registry, Royal Mail and other partners.

Speakers will discuss some of the key societal trends in areas such as the growth of electric vehicles and automated vehicles - reducing noise and air pollution and the drive to improve health with cycling and walking through active travel agenda. All of these have increasing the need for high quality geospatial data such as streets and addressing to both plan, record and publicise information.

A review of the year, pulling together as a community

This session celebrates the work of the DCA community and will announce the winners of the Exemplar and Peer Awards.

This two-day conference will have illustrated how much the public sector in particular relies on the work of the DCA community, and the drivers for ongoing data improvements. The DCA governance arrangements are vital in ensuring the interests of local government are foremost, and variations to the DCA, data entry conventions, specifications, and quality and performance measures can be monitored and agreed.

Cathy and Keith, as Principal Chairs of the DCA Regional Address and Streets Groups will outline the progress that has been made in the last year, despite the very real difficulties caused by COVID-19.

We want to hear from you – submit your questions to Cathy, Keith and a GeoPlace panel.
