Getting to the venue

Venue entrance

Please note that all bags and suitcases will be searched before entering the building.

The stadium has several entrances. The GeoPlace conference will be accessed at the:

Sir Alex Fergusson stand entrance 

  • Access via the road Wharfside Way.

  • Approach via the orange footbridge (shown in the map below).

  • And the entrance is directly ahead of you, beneath the statue of Sir Alex Fergusson, and in the centre of the Sir Alex Fergusson Stand shown in the map below.

For parking please park in N2, which is accessed from Wharfside Way, see  map above. Parking is free. 


Public transport

You can use the Citymapper app or website to get across Manchester. This example route gives you options from Manchester Piccadilly Train Station to the venue entrance at Old Trafford Stadium:

A new tram stop is expected to be open in April 2020, providing easy access to the Stadium.  You can see a map of the new tram route here: If the tram stop isn't open by the time of the conference, GeoPlace will run a shuttle bus service for delegates from Manchester Piccadilly station.


Driving from The North

For Sat Nav use postcode M16 0SZ. Leave the M60 at Junction 12 M602 (Salford / Manchester). At the end of the M602 (Junction 3) follow signs for Salford Quays & Trafford Park. At the roundabout turn right onto Trafford Road (A5063). At the bridge over the Manchester Ship Canal, keep in the right-hand lane, turn right and follow the road round to Trafford Wharf Road, then left at the traffic lights onto Sir Alex Ferguson Way. At the traffic lights turn right on to Wharfside Way, where you will see our visitors' carpark N2.

Driving from The South

For Sat Nav use postcode M16 0SZ. Leave the M6 at Junction 19 and take the A556 in the direction of Manchester Airport. Continue onto the M56 to Manchester, passing the Airport, and follow the signs to the M60 (Leeds/Liverpool). Leave the M60 at Junction 7 (A56 Chester Road) and follow the signs for Manchester United on to Wharfside Way, where you will see our visitors carpark N2.
